NCERT Solving Method

Step 1 — Distinguish definitions (what things are), axioms/postulates (assumed truths), and theorems (proved results). Step 2 — Euclid's 5 postulates: memorise all five; Postulate 5 (Parallel Postulate) is the most important. Step 3 — For proof questions: state the axiom/postulate used explicitly by name. Step 4 — Equivalent of 5th Postulate: Playfair's axiom — through a given point, only ONE line parallel to a given line. Step 5 — This chapter is mostly theoretical; focus on understanding rather than calculation.
